The TVI Take
Tarantino's 2004 second half that turned out to be the more structurally serious of the two. The Pai Mei training sequences, the buried-alive escape, and the Bill-Beatrix final confrontation render the catharsis the first film deferred.
David Carradine's Bill is the rare Tarantino antagonist whose verbal performance (the Superman monologue) is the actual structural payoff. Together with Vol. 1, the most carefully-constructed double feature in 2000s American film.
