The TVI Take
Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch's period-set comedy-drama about a 1980s women's professional wrestling promotion in Los Angeles. Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and an ensemble that grew across three seasons.
The show's structural argument, women's performance labor as a site of self-discovery and economic survival, was unusually careful. Netflix renewed the show for a final fourth season, then cancelled it mid-production during the 2020 COVID shutdown. The cancellation specifically violated the renewal commitment.
