The TVI Take
Linklater's 2022 rotoscope-animated memoir. Growing up in 1969 Houston during the Apollo program, with Jack Black narrating the adult perspective and Milo Coy voicing the boy.
The film operates as memory rather than narrative, layered with period commercial detail, schoolyard ritual, and television cadence. Educational about the Apollo program and the cultural texture of late-Sixties American suburbia. The rotoscope technique has refined considerably since A Scanner Darkly, used here for warmth rather than alienation.
