Bong Joon-ho · Filmography Ranked
Best Bong Joon-ho Films, Ranked by IQ Score
The Korean director who reshaped American cinema's relationship to international film. Every Bong Joon-ho film, ranked by IQ Score.
Bong Joon-ho's filmography is the most commercially-successful international-cinema breakthrough in American film distribution history. Parasite (2019) was the first non-English-language Best Picture winner, and the catalog leading up to it (Memories of Murder, The Host, Mother, Snowpiercer) was already structurally complete.
Anchor picks: Parasite is the canonical entry, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best International Feature. Memories of Murder (2003) is the catalog's most-underrated entry, a true-crime procedural about the Hwaseong serial murders that ran in Korea between 1986 and 1991. The Host (2006) established the family-drama-with-creature-feature structural pattern. Mother (2009) is the catalog's most-character-driven entry.
